![]() ![]() On a T2-equipped or Apple-Silicon-based Mac, part of what that feature does may be to change the Mac's encryption key. There is a feature in macOS Monterey to prepare a Mac for resale, transfer, or disposal. Among other things, the SoC encrypts the stored data using a key unique to a particular Mac Studio … so you can't pull the SSDs, take them to another Mac Studio, and read the contents. ![]() It would appear that the SSD slots are not necessarily for standard M.2 SSDs – but perhaps for some type of raw flash storage modules managed by the M1 Max or Ultra SoC. ![]() If you think you may need more storage capacity in the future, consider configuring to a higher capacity. Note: Mac Studio storage is not user accessible. ![]()
